OUR PURPOSE

To encourage and strengthen community between students of computer science and other students, the Department of Computer Science, and potential employers, as well as to spread information about computer science and technology through lectures, seminars, publications, and events.

YOUR 2016-2017 EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE

PRESIDENT

peggy-5

PEGGY ANDERSON

Peggy is in her 3rd/4th year of Computer Science (she was a January start). As president she is to be worshipped (just joking, but not). She suffers from RBF and happens to be quite nice so don’t be afraid to approach her for help or to talk for fun! She’ll be on the third floor… Somewhere. If it’s really early in the morning, try looking for her to be sprawled across three chairs or under a table.

VICE PRESIDENT

eileen-5

EILEEN VAN HEERDE

Eileen is a Computer Science student that enjoys sleeping, eating, and just generally being alive (sometimes). You might see her wandering aimlessly around the third floor of spinks or bothering people in the open lab because she’s a terrible student and doesn’t want to do her assignments. If you see this happening, TELL HER TO DO HER ASSIGNMENTS (please).

TREASURER

tom

THOMAS YOUNGSON

This is Tom’s fifth year on the CSSS. He has been the treasurer for 4 years now, so he is a pro!

OFFICE MANAGER

garrett-5

GARRETT HANSEN

class Garrett(CSSSExecutive):

age = 22
universityYear = “5th”
areaOfInterest = “Artificial Intelligence”
job = “T.A. for CMPT-141”

def GetBio(self):

rString = “This year will be the third year that he has the “
rString += “honor of being part of the CSSS Executives, and “
rString += “is excited to take on the responsibilities relating “
rString += “to this role. Students often find him in S360, and “
rString += “is always willing to jump up and help out; whether “
rString += “that is with a homework assignment, or just to get “
rString += “into the CSSS office to buy something.”
return rString

chris-5

CHRISTOPHER CHAMBERLAIN

Chris is a computer science major and VR nut. He has been here two and a half years. Worked for Ian Stavness this summer doing cool website work. He drinks and knows things.

SOCIAL DIRECTOR

 ashley-5

ASHLEY ARMSTRONG

Ashley is a 4th level human wizard with the Far Traveler background. Originally hailing from the fabled land of Colorado, she chose the School of Computer Science as her Arcane Tradition, and traveled North to find an institution where she could further her training.

ASHLEY ARMSTRONG

INTERNATIONAL GAME DEVELOPERS ASSOCIATION CHAIR

rowan-y-5

ROWAN YATES

Rowan is the greatest person you will ever meet, or just someone in the lounge. As the IGDA chair he is in charge of letting you know what the word on the street is about the game development community both local and around the world. If you are interested in joining the IGDA or just want to talk about gaming or game development feel free to talk to him in the lounge where he can be found most of the time.

4TH YEAR STUDENT REPRESENTATIVE

matthew-5

MATTHEW WALDNER

Matthew is in his fifth year, and is one of the rare and fabled bioinformatics students in the department. Come to him if you want to talk about molecular biology, or with any questions you have about bioinformatics in general.

3RD YEAR STUDENT REPRESENTATIVE

rowan-m-5

ROWAN MACLACHLAN

Rowan is in his 4th year of school at the University of Saskatchewan, but is technically a 3rd year student!  He got to work in Ian Stavness’ biglab this summer, and now, he is hard at work organizing the department career fair.

2ND YEAR STUDENT REPRESENTATIVE

kole-5

KOLE PHILLIPS

Kole showed up one day, and no one questioned it. He has been here for three years, but still considers himself to be a second-year student for some reason. Kole’s natural habitat is the lounge, and can be observed playing board games or doing technical computer-y things.

1ST YEAR STUDENT REPRESENTATIVE

 peter-5

PETER ZHAI

Peter is a first year university student in computer science. Generally speaking, he is a really nice person that you can ask for help. That does not only include questions about computer science but also questions in other fields. However, if you have an interesting topic and you want to find someone to argue with, he will be that guy. (P.S. English is not his first language, don’t expect him to know everything and he hates acronyms.)

MEMBER AT LARGE

 dan-5

DANIEL MCCOSHEN

Dan is in his second year of computer science. He is willing to help when asked and also enjoys a good conversation. He can usually be found in the lounge, and if he isn’t it means he is ether in class or its night time.

MEMBER AT LARGE

 jp-5

JON-PAUL DEPREZ

JP is a second year student who loves to make games, take bad photos, and grow fluffy hair. He is often found in the lounge debugging his games, playing Overwatch, or taking naps after pretending to work hard.

MEMBER AT LARGE

 nick-5

NIKOLAOS KONSTANTINIDIS

Nick is in his 3nd Year of Computer Science, with a focus in A.I. (No, not the movie). Natural habitat: 3rd floor Spinks. Base human language is English, with more available as free DLC. Passionate about game design. If you see him  being lazy, tell him to go back to his projects. Always available for discussions, answer questions or play games.
